Here’s how we finished the year:   Barnabus: 4 girls and 1 boys Snowstorm: 3 girls and 2 boys Accoyo America Ulysses: 1 girl Peruvian Lancaster: 1 girl Rayo’s Roso e Grigio: 1 boy We’ve been building our breeding program for nearly 18 years, but this year’s crop of crias takes our breath away. We’re seeing the reflection of uniform, elite genotype we’ve worked so hard to produce with consistency. We think these kids fully support our signature of “enriching pedigrees one champion at a time for predictable quality.” Many of these crias + a few of their moms, sisters and brothers and cousins are for sale.   Xanadu P. Tempest   Click on the thumbnails  to see a larger view. Sire: Peruvian Lancaster (medium fawn) Dam: Windstar’s Bella Miranda (light fawn) (Accoyo Augusto granddaughter) Another Shakespearean naming. Her mom, Miranda, is the name of the Beautiful heroine of Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest”.  She’s the image of mom and dad.  Her dark honey- colored fleece is ultra fine, blindingly bright and loaded with crimp.  Like her mom, she has grey on her legs and face, too. That should make for some interesting breeding options for her when she retires from the show ring. Xanadu Roso’s Coppersmith Copper is now owned by Jackie Smith of Oakwood Farms in New Mexico. Click on the thumbnails  to see a larger view. Sire:  Rayo's Roso e Grigio Dam: Xanadu Tangled up in Blue (“Tulip”) A gorgeous rose grey boy, loaded with fleece and very stylish. Just like his dad.  He draws heavily on great-grandsires, Accoyo Legacy, and Presidio, too, for that great Peruvian fleece. We love this combination of deep grey genetics & marquee Peruvian bloodlines.     Xanadu P. Much Ado   Click on the thumbnails  to see a larger view. Sire: Maple Brook Barnabus Dam: Xanadu P. La Boheme         (Accoyo Legacy dtr) There is a phrase used for racehorses- “born in the purple” - that applies to this stunning girl. Mom is a Legacy daughter, Accoyo Victor granddaughter & a fawn Reserve Champion at the AAA Futurity. Much Ado is blessed with ultrafine fleece from both sides, a perfect head and a saucy attitude that’s all her own. She’ll be in our fall show string for sure. Much is now owned by the Greene family of  Snow Diamond Alpacas and she took first at  halter at the 2011 AOBA show.   Royal Plush Snowstorm’s Mariah Mariah and her mom, Cantata, are now owned by Mike and Loretta Green of Royal Plush Alpacas Click on the thumbnails  to see a larger view. Cantata   When you match a great mom (Accoyo Don Quixote/Presidio girl) with a champion dad, the quality is predictable but the details are always a pleasant surprise. This first girl of our fall crop is exceptionally dense like mom and carries Dad’s fineness, coverage and great head. She’ll be a perfect match for Barnabus when she’s grown.   Xanadu P. Serenade Click on the thumbnails  to see a larger view. Sire: Eastwind’s Snowstorm Dam: Xanadu P. Quinta (Barnabus daughter) Quinta’s a Barnabus girl from an Accoyo Caligula dam. Serenade is Quinta’s first and she’s lovely. We’re seeing Snowstorm passing through mom’s density and fineness and adding his own strong genotype with fineness, highly defined architecture, strong frame and typey head.   Xanadu P. Barnabus matched up with our Snowmass Messiah mom for the first time to produce this sparkling girl. Once again Barnabus shows why he’s the genotype standard for ultra-fine fleece. Xanadu P. Trousseau         [Presidio girl] Ah, a full sister to GWAS light champion, Xanadu P. Mistral. She’s a beige/light fawn and is a cause for celebration on many levels. Donno Bello (Presidio daughter) Number 6 full sibling and 5 are GIRLS!  All 4 of Caprice’s older sisters, the “C” girls Courant, Cachet, Cadeau and Cadenza are Color Champs. Sire: Eastwind’s Snowstorm Dam: Snowmass Sonata Sonata broke her 8 year string of boy/girl every other year and we’re delighted she did with this girl as her #9 for us. She’s given us many champions from Presidio and Barnabus and now Élan is a treasure from Sonata’s great genetics and our new boy Snowstorm. Au Courant (Barnabus Girl-Presidio G-Dtr) Our third Snowstorm cria and first boy.  Mom is a multiple champion and the oldest of our championship line of 5 full sisters (the“C” girls) from Xanadu P Donno Bello and Barnabus.  This guy was our largest of the year at 21 pounds and has mom’s density and fineness and the same from dad. Sire: Accoyo America Ulysses Dam: Xanadu P Enchante (Barnabus x Snowmass Sonata) Oh, were we excited to see what this matchup would produce and she doesn’t disappoint. Her name comes from the Odyssey where Circe is an enchantress who enchanted Ulysses – so her name reference both mom and dad’s names. She’s an equally wonderful blend of mom and dad.   Xanadu P. Seraphina (Snowmass Snowmaster) We purchased “Miss Sara” at the  2007 Snowmass auction and have been looking for her perfect match. He brings together Accoyos Legacy and Caligula from mom matched with our handsome new boy Snowstorm. He’s second to last in a great cria year for us and will make the spring show group for sure.
